The Quran, also known as the Koran, is the holy book of Islam, revealed to Prophet Muhammad by God over 23 years, starting in 609 C.E. It is divided into Meccan and Medinan sections, with 114 chapters (Surahs). The Quran covers various aspects of life and is considered the ultimate source of divine guidance for humanity. It forms the basis of Islamic law (Sharia) along with Hadith. It is recited in Arabic, especially during daily prayers, and Muslims aim to complete its recitation during Ramadan.
